Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MoSMS (“we”, “us”), a messaging platform operated by Moinfo Tech in Tanzania, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and our SMS and WhatsApp messaging services.

1. Information we collect

• Account data: name, email, phone number, and organization details of registered users.
• Contact & recipient data: names and phone numbers that our customers (tenants) upload to send messages and event invitations.
• Message data: the content, delivery status, and timestamps of SMS and WhatsApp messages sent or received through the platform.
• Event & RSVP data: invitee responses (e.g. attendance confirmations) submitted via web links or WhatsApp replies.
• Usage & technical data: log data such as IP address and actions taken, used to operate and secure the service.

2. How we use information

• To deliver SMS and WhatsApp messages that our customers send to their own recipients.
• To process event invitations, card links, and RSVP confirmations.
• To provide delivery reports, billing, and account management.
• To secure the platform, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

3. WhatsApp Business messaging

We use the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) to send and receive messages on behalf of our customers. Messages are sent only to recipients our customers have a relationship with, using approved message templates where required. Inbound replies (such as tapping a confirmation button) are used solely to record the recipient’s response (for example, an RSVP). We do not use WhatsApp data for advertising, and we handle it in accordance with WhatsApp’s and Meta’s applicable policies.

4. How information is shared

We do not sell personal data. We share information only with:

• Messaging providers (e.g. the WhatsApp Business Platform / Meta and our SMS gateway) strictly to deliver messages you request.
• Service providers that host and support our infrastructure, under confidentiality obligations.
• Authorities where required by law.

5. Data retention

We retain message and account data for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal and accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. Customers may request deletion of their data, subject to legal retention obligations.

6. Security

We apply technical and organizational measures to protect data, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

7. Your choices & opt-out

Recipients may opt out of messages at any time by replying with STOP (for WhatsApp/SMS where supported) or by contacting the sender. Registered users can update or request deletion of their account information.
